Academy Award Winner Tom Woodruff, Jr. announced he will join the advisory board of the Central PA Film Office (CPFO). The CPFO will publicly thank Woodruff for his support on Friday, February 25 at a benefit to be held in the Capitol Lounge from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.
Woodruff will be present at the event, along with his Academy Award© statuette, and will present a speech on the growth of film in Williamsport. In addition, he will debut a teaser trailer for his proposed feature film “Sideshow.”
The CPFO fundraiser will precede the 83rd Academy Awards© on Sunday, February, 27.
The event is open to the public. Tickets are $50 and can be obtained by emailing the film office at centralpafilmoffice@gmail.com or calling 570.419.5341. Sponsors for the fundraiser include the Community Arts Center and Albright LIFE. All proceeds will benefit the CPFO.
A Montoursville, PA native, Woodruff garnered an Academy Award for his effects work on the Meryl Streep film, “Death Becomes Her.” In addition, he has received additional Academy Award nominations for “Starship Troopers” and “Alien3.” In 2010, Woodruff announced plans to direct the feature film “Sideshow” in the Williamsport area, for which he has scouted locations.
