Garth Brooks. Shania Twain. Reba McEntire. George Strait. Alan Jackson. Faith Hill. Tim McGraw. The ’90s were a decade when country music exploded across America, filling arenas and stadiums with songs like “Friends in Low Places,” “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!,” “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” “Chattahoochee,” “Fancy,” and “The Thunder Rolls.”

In a world of AI-generated music, algorithms, and songs consumed seconds at a time, you might think this good old-fashioned, down-home music wouldn’t connect with a new generation. You’d be wrong.

The young musicians of the Uptown Music Collective’s Special Performance Group are about to prove that a great song, played with heart, never gets old.
